In 2006 I co-wrote a presentation with Tim Rylands for a series of national educational ICT conferences for RM. Initially, we contrasted the traditional educational emphasis on the 3Rs (reading, ‘riting, ‘rithmetic) with the 3Cs of Creativity, Communication, Collaboration

We showed through practical examples how ICT could both enable these 3Cs and develop the 3Rs (it being an RM conference, some of the focus was, of course, on RM products.) The examples also showed how pupils were also provided with Challenge, learned to Craft their work, and developed Confidence. So that’s Six Cs. But I thought then and think now that also there needs to be a way of describing the way in which skills and competencies are developed – Capability. That’s Seven Cs!

  • Creativity
  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Challenge
  • Craft
  • Confidence
  • Capability

More on this another time…
